TOUR NEWS: MARCH 2008

On March 2nd, Carl begins a spectacular international tour of silent films and concerts - beginning in Luxembourg with two performances of the 1925 silent film "The Big Parade", starring John Gilbert at Philharmonic Hall on March 7th and 8th.  There is also  a family concert at 3pm on 8th March consisting of Buster Keaton’s One Week and Chaplin’s A Dog’s Life.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Following Luxembourg, Carl will conduct a season of Chaplin films in Seoul with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at the Sejong Cultural Centre.  Programmes consist of:  The Gold Rush with a curtain-raiser of Behind the Screen on Friday, 14th March; on Saturday, 15th:  The Cure followed by City Lights.  On the 16th:  The Adventurer followed by Modern Times.  The films are accompanied by The Seoul Philharmonic.

Carl can next be found ‘shaken but not stirred’ in Australia performing (with Mary Carewe) his selection of themes from the James Bond cycle.  The Bond Season begins in Melbourne with two performances on 29th and 30th March at Hamer Concert  Hall.  Carl then jets up to Brisbane for two further performances with the Queensland symphony Orchestra in Brisbane on 4th April at the City Hall Auditorium and on 5th April at the Gold Coast Arts Centre.

The scene now shifts to Macau, beginning with a lecture on 18th March.  On 21st  and 22nd March Carl conducts a selection of eight of Chaplin’s ‘Mutuals’ with his new scores accompanied by members of the Hong Kong Philharmonic.
